Case Studies
We are thrilled to share Inclusion Education’s Everything DiSC® and The Five Behaviors® journey and the excellent feedback from its CEO, Innovation & Development Director, and fantastic team.
Inclusion Education was founded in the U.K. ten years ago and is one of the leading charities providing social, emotional, and mental health support to young people in education. Across two key sites, Inclusion provides an academic and skill-enhancing curriculum tailored to meet young people’s individual needs.
With ten years of experience supporting young people, Inclusion has developed a bespoke programme. It follows a trauma-informed approach, placing the recovery curriculum ethos at the heart of its actions. This allows Inclusion to centre the learner's individual needs in the education they offer, allowing them to adapt their approach to best support the immediate requirements of the young people they work with.
Inclusion has grown considerably in the last few years. The CEO is passionate about growing the organisation, expanding the reach and impact of its innovative programme, and investing in developing individuals, teams, and the organization overall.
Inclusion has a strong, vibrant culture with low turnover and high levels of employee engagement.
Our Engagement
When we started our engagement with Inclusion in August 2023, the team comprised 51 people, including the CEO/Founder and four senior managers.
Di5B initially facilitated four workshops, totaling 28 hours, for Inclusion over a three-month period: two workshops for Everything DiSC Workplace® and two Everything DiSC® Management workshops.
Di5B now supports Inclusion with ensuring the on-going impact of Everything DiSC. The immediate priority for Inclusion is the integration of ten new employees who are joining the team during the first half of 2024. The senior management team has recently been extended too. Di5B facilitated a Five Behaviors workshop to help accelerate the development of the newly formed team as we outline in this case study.
Assessments, Learning Experiences & On-going Impact...
Key Goal: Build more effective relationships at work.
All team members completed Everything DiSC Workplace profiles on the Catalyst online portal and attended a 6-hour workshop facilitated by Di5B that covered DiSC fundamentals and all three Workplace modules: What Drives You, You & Others and Building Better Relationships.
Key Goal: Learn how to successfully engage, motivate, and develop people.
The five senior management team members, including the CEO/Founder and 12 line managers, also received Everything DiSC Management profiles. Di5B facilitated an initial Management workshop for the senior management team so that they could experience this for themselves first. We then split the 8 hours of learning into two half-day workshops for the team of line managers. All experienced the six Management modules: Your Management Style, Direct & Delegate, Motivation, People Reading, Develop Talent, and Manage Up.
Key Goal: Develop the emotional intelligence necessary to support a thriving agile culture.
Additionally, the senior management team received Agile EQ profiles to experience this for themselves, with a view to Agile EQ being rolled out in the future.
Everything DiSC® Catalyst™ and EPIC
Key Goal: Using Catalyst and EPIC to streamline assessments, reporting, and future flexibility.
Di5B administered all the DiSC assessments, providing them on the Catalyst online portal. All senior managers and line managers received their Management add on experiences without needing to complete any further assessment questions, and the senior management team received their Agile EQ experiences so they could view these in Catalyst together with their Workplace and Management DiSC profiles. Inclusion now has a dedicated Wiley EPIC account to administer new assessments and has flexible access to all completed assessments. They can create group and comparison reports.
The Five Behaviors® Personal Development
Key Goal: To build a culture of teamwork by helping individuals understand themselves and others to work effectively on any team.
The most recent workshop (May 2024), attended by the senior management team and HR Manager, provided a half-day learning experience on The Five Behaviors® Personal Development. Like Everything DiSC Management, this was also an opportunity for the CEO and senior team to experience this first. Two new members had joined the senior team. One new to the organization, and a second senior manager had been promoted. This was an ideal early opportunity for the re-shaped senior team to share a team development experience and The Five Behaviors Personal Development for themselves ahead of the program being rolled out to other staff later in the year. The workshop introduced all five behaviors: Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results to the team.
What is Happening Now?
All new employees now receive their Workplace DiSC profiles as they near their three-month probation, meaning that Catalyst is updated with all employees. New managers also receive their Management profile on Catalyst.
The HR Manager is now completing the Everything DiSC Essentials self-directed learning course. She holds 1-2-1 sessions with all new employees, introducing them to their DiSC profile.
A small team of DiSC champions is being formed to help ensure that Everything DiSC remains at the centre, supporting the organisation's growth.
Going forward all new team members will be invited to attend an Everything DiSC learning experience workshop to help bring their DiSC assessment alive and as part of Inclusion’s strategy to make Everything DiSC long-lasting.
Starting in the second half of 2024, Everything DiSC Agile EQ and The Five Behaviors Personal Development will be rolled out to all team members. Di5B will conduct a needs analysis with the senior management team, HR Manager, and DiSC champions to design the best solution to create the maximum ongoing impact.
What is Inclusion Education's Future with Everything DiSC?
Everything DISC and The Five Behaviours is going to form the core systems approach to sustaining an effective working culture across the organisation as we grow. It fits so well with our values and commitment to inclusion amongst staff and supporting staff to support each other.
It is early days, but I have already noted a strengthening of psychological safety, with all staff understanding different personality types, the requirement (and techniques) to stretch to others, and the use of a shared language forming. I've also found it helps with recruitment.

What will have the greatest impact on your team’s success?
Jasmine
Manager
By understanding one another's motivations, we can work together effectively. DiSC is great for highlighting where each person (profile) can shine
Michael
Manager
By enabling other staff members to feel part of the process and have matters seen through their eyes, thereby giving them ownership and engagement, which lead to better overall outcomes for the organization
Marie
Senior Manager
Being aware of other people’s styles and awareness of their own. Developing a shared language within the team to keep DISC alive and at the forefront of interactions.
What have been the benefits to you?
Nerys
Manager
Understanding my colleagues more and being able to have more effective meetings and sessions with them
Julia
Manager
Understanding myself more and how I may be perceived by different styles. (Knowing when to tone this down for certain profiles is useful!). Allowing 'time to think' and seeing the benefits of doing so. Allowing those that I line manage 'time to think', but managing it effectively so we can still gain results within a reasonable time.
Paula
Manager
Seeing the bigger picture and seeing how other people approach work/projects and learning to make allowances which is fine because we are not all the same
What worked especially well for you?
Shannon
Manager
I felt that the videos showing someone approach the same scenario with four different DiSC styles really interesting and useful
Jasmine
Manager
I enjoyed having the extra (Management) workshops. Having these spaced apart was great as it gave us time to work on what was discussed. All the materials provided have been clear and of high quality
Paula
Manager
I liked all of the DISC training and can see how it would benefit me in my working relationships and projects to ensure good working relationships and outcomes
